Overarching Rubrics

  • Barbara Weed shared a rubric for assessing the use of subjects, themes, and symbols that demonstrate knowledge of contexts, values, and aesthetics that communicate intended meaning in artworks. Barbie explains that she usually teaches these concepts as part of a larger, more integrated piece of study. Barbie guides students through an unpacking process that includes identifying vocabulary, re-writing the goals so that they understand them, and revising their draft versions (with feedback from me) so that they are demonstrating the right competencies.
