PhD Student in EIT

Galena Kostoska, PhD student in Interaction design within the European Institute of Technology, EIT Digital programme in Trento, will join the COMPEIT KTH team in November and December. This follows Galena’s PhD internship at TNO Groningen since May, where she has contributed to WP6 Piloting, guided by Joke Kort. Before her departure from the Netherlands, Galena completed a user study of COMPEIT’s SharedSpaces prototype in a setting with elderly people, which will be analysed as part of her stay at KTH. Together with Galena and Joke, we plan a journal publication based on COMPEIT’s user research and which may be included in Galena’s PhD, planned for the beginning of 2016.

Winner of COMPEIT Essay Contest

We have selected a winner of the COMPEIT essay contest! It was hard to choose between all the nice stories. However, one person wrote the winning story and won the I-pad mini: Maaike from the Netherlands! She wrote the story that was the most valuable for the COMPEIT project. Her story was about “Cuddlots”: these are robots that you can design yourself to resemble someone you know. These robots move in alignment with the person you know, through a camera and a small tablet (a Tabbot), and you can cuddle (the robot is soft and warm) and play with the Cuddlot.

Because so many nice and creative stories were send in, we have decided to also award the most creative story. This story was written by Naomie from the Netherlands, who will receive a gift certificate.

We would like to thank all the participants for their creative stories!
