Daniel W. Oliver was born September 14, 1839. He was married to Mary Elizabeth DeWitt around 1861. (1847-1919).
Daniel enlisted as a private in Company A, Tucker's Cavalry at Pawley's Island on March 17, 1862, age 22; assigned to Company B on April 8, 1863 and was on that roster when it became Company F, 7th SC Cavalry. He was detached on Waccamaw Neck January - August 1862; present September 1862 - February 1863; present sick in camp March - April 1863; promoted 3rd Corporal May - June 1863; present sick May - June 1863; on details July - October 1863; promoted 2nd Corporal September - October 1863; present sick November - December 1863; present January - June 13, 1864.
During the fighting at Riddell's Shop to Malvern Road on June 13, 1864, Daniel was wounded in the left shoulder and chest. He was at Jackson Hospital June 13 - July 14, 1864. He was on wound furlough through October 1864. Promoted 1st Corporal September - October 1864. No further record.
The 1880 Horry County census shows Daniel and Mary with children: Ann, Windham, Joseph, Robert, Ellen and Cephas.
Daniel died on September 17, 1917 and is buried in Centenary UMC Cemetery in Conway, Horry County, South Carolina.
