Cherry Lime Granita


1 lb. frozen cherries—thawed

½ cup water

½ cup sugar

juice from 1 lime

zest from 1 lime

½ teaspoon almond extract (or 1 tablespoon amaretto)


*Mix water, sugar, extract, juice and zest. Stir until sugar is dissolved.

*Add thawed cherries to blender bowl. Add water-sugar mixture. Blend until smooth. Add to pyrex dish. Freeze until solid. Scrape mixture with fork until completely scraped. Freeze at least two hours. Scrape again. Freeze at least two hours. Scrape. Enjoy!


  • You can strain the cherry mixture if you want a completely smooth granita, but I like the chunks.
  • Feel free to make popsicles instead of granita with the same mixture.
