During Summer 2010, Ian Tulungen raised the awareness and some money for the Library in Indonesia. The project was part of his senior service project as a graduation requirement from Culver Academies. The project was conducted in Robinson Memorial Church, Syracuse, New York. The goal of the project was  to educate member of the Robinson Memorial Presbyterian Church about Indonesia and the Community Library in Indonesia. Ian organized two luncheons and prepared and cooked Indonesian (Minahasan) food and served it for two Indonesian luncheons. Through these luncheon Ian gave presentations about Indonesia and the Community Library development and its progress and also shared and taught the congregation how to prepare and cook Indonesian (Minahasan) food. Along with the luncheons Ian raised money to support the community library in Indonesia. Besides this Ian was also invited as the guest speaker at one of the luncheon (Dave's Cooking) organized by the Church.

New Books!
In December 2009, we added new books to the library collections. The books are mainly for children and young adults. The purchase of the books was made possible by the donation from the congregation of Robinson Memorial Presbyterian Church, Syracuse, NY.

New Initiative: Library Expansion!
The Library also is starting a new initiative. We are in the process of expanding and supporting a kindergarten program in the City of Bitung by opening a reading program and library section. The kindergarten is part of  church program. With support, the kindergarten will add reading materials  for the children. The library will also be open to other children in the community.

Give Books Give Future!

In order to help children to read more and to add more books in  the library's collection, we initiated the "Give Books Give Future" program. This program is intended to provide opportunity to the people, to bring books as a gift to the library and the community. By donating your  books, new or used, to the library, you are helping and providing a better future to the children and the community.  We accept any books, especially children and young adult books, as well as general reference books. If you have used books at home, those books will be useful when you share it or donate it to the library, to the children, and to the  people in the village.
For your gift this year to the children and community, please drop your used or new books to the library.

Merry Christmas 2011 and Happy New Year 2012

Friends of the Library.

The establishment of the Tember Community Library is being organized initially as a family effort.  The Tulungen's are the initiators of the library, and members of the Tulungen-Tuwo family will be overseeing the initial stages of the library.   After the Tember Community Library is solidly established and has succeeded in convincing the community of its value, the library will be turned over to the community for continuing future management.  The base or kick-off funding for the library has been provided thanks to the Grace United Church of Christ, the Women’s Guild of the Grace United Church of Christ in Culver, Indiana and the Robinson Memorial Presbyterian Church (USA) Syracuse, NY. The kick-off funding has assured only the basic initial establishment of the library.  We need your further support in order to provide for the acquisition of the collection, the programming, administrative supplies including a computer and printer, and to ensure the future of the community library. Please give as generously as you can. All donors of $20 or more will become friends of the library. As friends you will receive our newsletter and report.
