The following is an example of a typical school week for Technique Class during the zero hour class period. Occasionally, students will be in the Dance Studio to rehearse so students can view their physical technique in the mirrors. Some students will be in other technique class group based on instrumentation needs.
Mondays--Symphony Cellos--Music Technology Lab
Tuesdays--Symphony Violins--Instrumental Room
Wednesdays--Concert Orchestra--Instrumental Room
Thursdays--Symphony Violas--Music Technology Lab
Friday--Symphony Basses--Music Technology Lab
Welcome back! I hope everyone has had a good summer! Before we get down to the music making, there are a few housekeeping items to cover.
For Tuesday, September 6th, 2016, students must have the following items:
1. Get a black binder for orchestra. It must be plain and should be at least an inch and a half in thickness. I recommend a strong two and a half inch binding. (If you are a returning student, I hope you kept your technique packets!)
2. Lock to lock your instrument up!
For Wednesday, September 7th, 2016, students must bring their instrument!
For Wednesday, September 14th, 2016, students must...
1. Sign (after reading) the orchestra handbook! Parents must sign it as well!
Technique Classes begin the week of September 12th!
Important: Even on late-start Mondays, half days, assembly days, etc., students are required to be at their assigned zero-hour sectional time.
Do you go to the movie to listen to the score? Are you a John Williams, Howard Shore, or Hans Zimmer fan? Them come on out to our next CHSO pops concert on Thursday, March 20th at 7:30pm in the auditorium! We will be featuring works from Jurassic Park, Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, and more! Hope to see you there!
Happy 2014 Everyone!
Students are now in their Solo/Ensemble routine for their festival at CHS on Saturday, February 15th, 2014! Look at the Resources page for links to the pieces being prepared!
Winter concert info:
Call time is 5:45pm. Be on stage then (in uniform and have your instrumented warmed up). The concert begins at 7:30pm. Winds and percussion do not need to be there until 6:40pm. Don't forget your Holiday Grab Bag gift for Friday!
Welcome Back Solo and Ensemble is behind us and it is time to move onto our Film Score Concert! Yay! But before we do, we must have more... fun! Orchestra students must complete the Solo and Ensemble Reflection Survey on the Resources tab by 8pm central time on Monday, February 24, 2014! It's only worth a ton of points, so get it done sooner rather than later!
It's true! The orchestra is going on tour to NEW YORK this school year along with the choir! Stay tuned! More details to come!
