Start Your Own Diversified Farm

Continuing Education Course at the Marshalltown Community College

This course will help you create a business plan and find land to start farming in the 2010 growing season. We will focus on goal setting, budgeting, marketing, crop planning, production, and record keeping. In addition, we will have experienced local farmers join us in class to describe their strategies for success. Upon completion of the course, you will have the opportunity to use farmland located at Marshalltown Community College (MCC) to start your farming operation. During the growing season you will receive production and marketing assistance from the MCC Entrepreneurial and Diversified Agriculture project coordinator, and have access to shared-use equipment. The course will be taught bilingually in Spanish and English, and childcare will be provided.
