We are creating a Professional Learning Community (PLC) on climate education in Colorado -- including the topics of energy, water, forest fire, weather, ecology, biodiversity, and climate change.  Our aim is to share resources and best practices so that Colorado teachers & educators may work together as a group, to improve our collective expertise in climate and related sciences, as well as effective teaching strategies.  Our aim is to both inform and inspire the educators of Colorado in teaching these challenging but important topics.

We believe that a PLC is an effective means to accomplish these goals because (a) social connections are important in our own learning, (b) climate science spans multiple disciplines and thus we can glean from each others’ expertise, and (c) sustained opportunities for collaboration, mentoring, and active learning are important for us as educators as we experiment in our teaching.

We plan to achieve these goals through in-person and virtual meetings, events, professional development opportunities, Colorado-specific online discussion forums, and a group editable website.  Learn more about the requirements of PLC membership.

  • We have a free Q&A discussion forum The kind folks at ICEE (Inspiring Climate Education Excellence) have provided us a Colorado-specific online Q&A forum where we can post questions and answers to get expert help on teaching climate.  This is monitored by some of the best climate education specialists, so please use this opportunity!  (Free registration required).  Note that this is different from the PLC email list, which only reaches other teachers in the PLC.
