This year, we want to know about how you are helping students connect to their communities and how you are using the classroom to bring multiple communities in conversation with your own. What are ways we, as educators alongside our students, build connection within our local and global contexts while celebrating our similarities and differences? How do we help students become advocates for change in their community, and how do we as educators become advocates for our students? How do we help students build skills to identify problems they see and begin conversations about them? What project-based learning opportunities can we create for our students to build critical thinking and problem solving skills? What literature can we present students with to honor multiple, diverse perspectives, and what activities can lead them to new discoveries, new conversations, new ideas? How do you structure and teach the tough conversations that need to be had in the classroom?
The 2018 CLAS Regional Fall Conference is all about "Connecting Communities through the Classroom," and we want you to share your ideas and expertise about this theme with next years' participants. Follow the link to submit your proposal to be a part of next year's amazing lineup.
