Politics & Law Event Set new attendance record for a BU political event!

On October 2, 2007 the BU College Democrats hosted the "2007 Judicial-DA debates on the Binghamton University campus. Co-sponsoring the event with several other political and law groups on campus, College Democrats brought more than 120 students to a packed lecture hall to watch 7 political candidates speak about running for election. Among the Democratic candidates were NYS S.C. nominee Molly Fitzgerald, Judge Mary Ann Lehman for County Judge, DA Gerald Mollen up for re-election, judicial hopeful Richie Rich, & judicial hopeful Don Cerio. These candidates were opposed by their Republican counterparts, justifying at the event why they should be elected by students to government positions.

College Democrats go to Columbia University

This past year the annual NYS College Democrats Convention was held at Columbia University.  Traveling more than 100 miles by bus and car, College Democrats had a strong showing of representation at the state convention.

The Covention featured Dan Maffei who ran from Congress in the Syracuse region. There was also a panel of speakers who talked about getting fellow students involved and being the feature leaders of the Democratic Party. A presentation on framing the arguments was given by a journalist followed by a group discussion session of College Democrat chapters members throughout the state on past, present and future chapter activities. Also discussed were ways of improving each person's chapter and new ideas that people had for events and meetings.

The night was capped off by political comedy at "The Tank" in Manhattan and fine dining at a Chinese, Mexican or Japanese restaurant. On Sunday, elections for the College Democrats of NY took place.

Special Congratulations to BU Dems members on election victories:

Brian Young won for Legislative Director

David Lewandowski for Southern Tier Regional Director
