Woodring College of Education & Washington Elementary

This CSIS project was funded by the Washington legislature to establish a model for how colleges of education might partner with elementary schools  to accelerate student achievement and deepen the knowledge and skills of current and future educators.  Our project will make use of Inquiry-Action teams of interns from a number of Woodring and WWU professional programs (ELED, school principal, school counselor, and Human Services) to work closely in the school with collaborating teachers, college faculty, administrators, paraeducators and community members to meet the needs of students in a holistic way.

A message to the team from Dean Francisco Rios...

As we embark this year on implementing the plan for working collaboratively with Washington Elementary School, we look forward to strengthening existing partnerships with families, communities, and schools in Mt. Vernon.  We know that both elementary and university students will be the primary beneficiaries. And that is as it should be.  Have a great year!

A message to the team from Superintendent Carl Bruner...

The Mount Vernon School District and our Board of Directors are excited to be partnering with Woodring in this important effort.  We look forward to working together – in a model that combines pre-service and in-service learning - to explore the most effective practices for educating all students to high standards in collaboration with parents and the community. I thank all of the team members for their work on behalf of Mt. Vernon students and families.
