The Colgate Figure Skating Club is a growing organization at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. The club was originally founded with the intention of keeping former figure skaters active in college while also giving back to the community through the Skate at the 'Gate learn to skate program. While the club still enjoys teaching local youth the skate, it has shifted its emphasis toward collegiate competitions over the past five years. The Colgate Figure Skating Club practices at Starr Rink on Colgate's campus two to four times a week and participates in the United States Figure Skating Eastern Intercollegiate Competitions. It is the goal of the club to expand its membership and continue giving college athletes a place to continue skating. In recent years, the Colgate Figure Skating Club broadened its program by creating a competitive synchronized skating team in a consortium with Hamilton College.
