What We Did in March

March 4, 2011

Today everybody tie dyed shirts that they brought.  It was fun.  The colors are sun colors, red, orange, and yellow.

For Dr. Seuss’s birthday we made oobleck.  We read The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins and Bartholomew and the Oobleck.  We read to our kindergarten friends and made hats.  They had red and white stripes and they were very tall.

We are collecting bottle caps for a mural at Imagination Station.  We can collect all different shapes and sizes.  We can help build it on May 6th through the 8th.

We finished reading Time for Andrew.  It was really good.  It was a bout a boy who goes back in time and trades places with a cousin who might have died of diptheria in 1910.  We started a new book, Maniac Magee.  It is a very mysterious book.

There were two birthdays this week, Skyler and Colin.  They both brought cookies in and they were delicious.  Brandon was our VIP.

We have only 21 days until Spring Break. We can't wait for the warm weather.

We're saving bottle caps for Imagination Station for a big mural that a famous artist is going to come and do. The Disco Dynamites are winning in bottle cap points.

We had a two hour delay. We don't need more snow.

We are making pillows in art. They are coming out really outstanding. The pillows are made from a portrait of ourselves that we drew.

We wore our tie dyed shirts on Monday. They are like sunshine because the colors are red, orange, and yellow.

We had the Toledo Zoo come in. We got to see two animals and pet one. It was a really good assembly about the rainforest.

We had BGSU soccer players come in for PE. They showed us foot skills and how to kick preperly. They were really nice.

We have a new student. Her name is Samantha and she is from northern Michigan. She is a really nice girl. Lucas was our V.I.P. this week.

We had a math test on Thursday and it was so long that it took two people the whole school day! We focused and did a pretty good job on it.

We have collected 700 bottle caps now. We're collecting them for Imagination Station so they can make a mural. We're surprised we have so many already.

We have started getting raffle tickets for doing good on tests. If our teacher picks the number on our ticket we get a prize. This week's winners are Brianne, Lucas, Eric, Desirae, and Savanna.

There is a super moon happening on Saturday. It's the closest that the moon is going to be to Earth. We're hoping for a clear night so we can see it.

We're reading Maniac Magee and there is one part about Butterscotch Krimpets so we got some. They taste like cupcakes and they're really good.

Colin was our V.I.P. this week.
