The Cold Ion Group (CIG) at the Centre for Quantum Technologies situated at the National University of Singapore is led by Dr. Manas Mukherjee. The group is primarily working on trapped and laser cooled barium ion towards the understanding of fundamental physics, quantum information and various aspects of the foundations of quantum mechanics. At CQT the group started in 2012 and since then working on developing the basics of ion trapping and laser cooling of barium ions. The group is working on the following projects:

1. Quantum emulation of Bose-Hubbard model using a chain of trapped and cooled ions
2.  Precision measurements for fundamental Physics like the atomic parity violation due to weak interactions.
3. Coupling cold ions via a superconducting wire
4. Thermodynamics in quantum limit
5. Synchronization in quantum limit
