THE NEW SAT
vocab:  http://blog.prepscholar.com/how-to-study-vocabulary-for-the-new-2016-sat

---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Steps to take when ANALYZING:
  1. Look closely at the material, re-reading when necessary. This means acknowledging where sentences begin and end. Or where paragraphs break.

  2. Interpret abstract ideas. Abstract ideas are non-tangible—they are hard to define or have multiple meanings. Like “being human.” Or “Freedom.”

  3. Interpret figurative language. Figurative language includes metaphors, imagery, hyperbole, symbolism, personification and so on.

  4. Close-read the material by paraphrasing sections and summarizing information in a few words. Write this down in the margins or in a notebook.

  5. Ask questions about new words or confusing ideas. Acknowledge what you don’t know and attempt to seek answers.
