God is so Good

"Casting all your anxiety upon Him, because He cares for you" (1Pet.5:7)

How many good friends do you have...I mean REALLY good friends. Are they really good? Do they really care for you? Do you love them a real lot? Do they answer your prayers?

Those four questions were the verses from a favorite song that we often sing in our church....

"God is so good, God is so good, God is so good, He's so good to me.

He cares for me, He cares for me, He cares for me, He's so good to me.

I love Him so, I love Him so, I love Him so, He's so good to me.

He answers prayer, He answers prayer, He answers prayer, He's so good to me."

God's goodness toward us is shown by His constant care. It is such a comfort to have the assurance that we do not have to face the struggles of life alone. We can cast all of our cares on Him. As Martin Luther said in a kind of whimsical way, "Pray, let God worry." As Paul said to Timothy, "But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, in order that through me the proclamation might be fully accomplished, and that all the Gentiles might hear. And I was delivered out of the Lion's mouth" (1 Tim.4:17). GOD IS SO GOOD!

We have in God a friend who will never desert us. The Hebrew writer tells us, "because God said, 'Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you' " (13:5). With that statement of assurance we can declare with confidence, "the Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid." GOD IS SO GOOD!

Connected to His care is the privilege of prayer. As Christians we are exhorted to "Be anxious in nothing, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" (Phil. 4:6). God has not left us alone to be "orphans." Jesus, our high priest was tempted in every way, just as we are tempted. He knows our struggles. He stands before God as our mediator. The Holy Spirit helps us to express the yearnings of our hearts, even as we don't know how to express them. His goodness is shown in prayer. GOD IS SO GOOD!

Finally, our God is a "promise keeper." He is the "anchor of our soul, steadfast and sure." He promises forgiveness of sins, provisions for living, help in the time of need, answers to prayers, help overcoming temptations, a peace that passes understanding, and His abiding presence. Lastly He promises that if we are faithful, we have a home with Him forever...WHAT A GOD! GOD IS SO GOOD!!!!

Have a wonderful day...Let your light shine for Him
