Bell Ringer: 

Daily Objective: What is the proper way for creating an MLA style research paper?

Instruction:  Students will participate in lecture and discussion with the instructor to understand how to create an MLA style research paper

Guided Practice: Instructor will provided guided instruction for formatting research papers using the MLA style including:
  • Spacing and Margins
  • Heading Style
  • Font Style and Size
  • Paragraph Organization

Independent Practice: Students will conduct research for chosen topic to begin working on MLA style research paper

Daily Objective: What is the proper way to cite and paraphrase using the MLA style?

Instruction: Instructor will provide handouts and guided instruction for properly citing and paraphrasing resources

Guided Practice: Students will work with practice sources to understand citing and paraphrasing information in a research paper

Independent Practice: Students will continue to conduct research for their chosen topic and create the introduction paragraph; Students will also submit at least five (5) sources that will be used in the research paper

Daily Objective: What are the proper steps for creating a Works Cited page?

Instruction: Students will be instructed on how to use the Research ribbon in Microsoft Word 2010; Students will also create a practice Works Cited page

Guided Practice: The instructor will provide hands on instruction for using the Research ribbon in Microsoft Word 2010 and how to use the information to create a Works Cited page in the MLA style

Independent Practice: Students will continue to conduct research for their chosen topic and begin creating the body of their 2-3 page research paper.

The instructor will provide guided instruction for creating an MLA style header using Microsoft Word 2010

Guided Practice: Students will work with the instructor to create the MLA style header for their research paper

Independent Practice: Students will use the information learned to create the header for their research paper and continue to conduct research for their chosen topic; 10-12 resources required
