I am writing to you as a Member of the Dutch Parliament for the Socialist Party.

I understand that a Bill in order to ratify and transpose the commitments enshrined in the Oslo Convention on the prohibition of cluster munitions into national legislation is currently debated in Australia. Please find enclosed a letter with the objective to encourage you to support and strive for equally stringent legislation, addressing three key concerns in particular, namely Article 21 (3) on interoperability,  transit, and investments.

Please accept the enclosed letter as a sincere effort to contribute to the full implementation of the intent and purpose of the Convention on Cluster Munitions, which is to stop the humanitarian harm caused by these weapons.

Yours sincerely,

Mr. Jasper van Dijk

Member of the Dutch Parliament for the Socialist Party
