The Parish Church of St Nicholas, Kenilworth, first appears on record in 1291. There was also a Priory church nearby which was founded at the same time as the rest of the Priory. The Priory church was more than twice the length of the church of St Nicholas. Fortunately, the church of St Nicholas survived the usual wanton destruction of the Reformation. Some Norman sculptures, which were rescued from the ruins of the abbey, were incorporated into the west end door of the church of St Nicholas following the Dissolution.
