National Center For Atmospheric Research a Federally Funded Research and
Development Center of the National Science Foundation
• Acquisition and use of supercomputers,
• Acquisition and retirement of five aircraft and other observation
facilities
• Federal stewardship for the acquisition or rental of over a dozen buildings
by UCAR which enabled the cost-effective execution of the NCAR program
• Promoted the development of world-class climate and weather models
• Guided the delivery of weather products to the university community, through
the Unidata program, that has transformed education and research in the
atmospheric sciences community
• Coordinated collaborative activities among Federal agencies which has led to
applications of basic research to benefit society,
• Participated in the working group to develop the NSF clarification of its
data policy and the development of requirement for a data management plan
• Help manage the acquisition process for US Antarctic program
• Assisted in the initiation of EarthCube
• Helped with strategic cyberinfrastructure strategic planning
