Marching & Concert Band
The "Cavalier Regiment" is the flagship ensemble for The Land's Instrumental Music Department. You'll see this award winning group at all home football games in the fall, basketball games in the spring and community events throughout the year. The marching season lasts August through December with the group transitioning to concert band music for the remainder of the school year. This group rehearses during 0 AND 1st periods during the fall, and 1st period during the spring.
This is our most advanced instrumental group. Students are selected for this group based on their audition scores at the beginning of each school year.
Concurrent participation in Marching & Concert band is required to be a member of this ensemble!
Advanced Orchestra is an auditioned group. In order to join this group, students must have at least two years of experience on a string instrument.
Auditions for seating take place at the beginning of each semester.
Color Guard is a lyrical dance unit that uses flags, rifles, sabers and other props as tools to enhance their performance. Evolving from the military tradition, they help to bring emotion, feeling and meaning to the marching band show each fall.
In the spring semester, this group performs and competes independently of the band in an activity commonly referred to as Winter Guard.
This course is designed to serve students with little to no musical experience. Students who want to join our music program but aren't quite ready for marching or jazz join this group. Throughout the year, they learn to play their instruments and the basics of music in general. Many of our students in the Marching Band and Jazz Ensemble started out as freshmen in our Beginning Band!
