I forged this 5/8 half hollow out of W1 drill rod. The drill rod is fun to work with, although it can be difficult to hold the slippery round bar when I'm forging the bevels onto the blade.
The scales are olive wood, and the spacer is black horn.
The tang preserves the original finish as it came from the forge.
Lately I've been shooting for a lighter, more sophisticated blade. My stock removal days had taught me to make chunky, meat-cleaver style blades, and now I'm trying to be more refined in my approach by thinning down the tang and spine, forging a gentle taper into the tang, and forging classic sweeping curves into the tang.
This razor was one of my first attempts at this, and it came out OK.
