The pain of Fluffy's Death
The pain of Fluffy's Death
[2:15] Alayni Axelrad tilts her head, "Lily?" [2:15] Lily Lowtide looks up and behind her. She clears her throat so her voice isn't too shakey. Meh, why even try to talk, it was so use. All she would say is "Hm?" [2:16] Alayni Axelrad blinks once, surprised at how pale and weak she appears from her usual self, "A...are you alright...ye dinna look...so well...." [2:20] Alayni Axelrad took a step closer, her boot clacking softly on the stone pavement, just once, as she moved. The distance closed between her and the pillar upon which Lily was sitting, and she rested her elbows upon it, chin in hand, "Ye care to tell me what happened? What's wrong?" [2:22] Lily Lowtide lets out a shakey sigh. She moves her hands up to grab either side of her head, like she was trying to keep it from falling off or something. Her some-what bloodied finger tips would roughly scratch her head as she held it. She starts to rock back and forth, opening her mouth only to let out a few whimpers. She tries again and all she can manage to say is "Fluffy..." [2:25] Alayni Axelrad 's ears perked at hearing Fluffy's name. Her hands fell to the pavement that the elbows were resting on, no longer supporting her face. "Eh? What about Fluffy?" her own voice shook a little, now worried from Lily's appearance and tone. "D...did something happen to her?" [2:27] Lily Lowtide was crying now. No matter how much she tried to hide it, she couldn't. She drops her hands to the cement and proceeds to grind her finger tips into the concrete, a habit she had formed whenever things got too tough for her. She drops her head and starts to grind her teeth together, not even sure how to form the words. She'd repeat "Fluffy.." again, choking as she said her name. She didn't even want to try to form a coherant sentence, so all she said was "Dead.." [2:30] Alayni Axelrad recoiled back from Lily, hand stopping midway when moving to cover her mouth. She blinked once, then twice, her eyes glassing suddenly. That couldn't be true...could it? "W...what?!" she'd ask, trying to keep hysterics from her tone, "How...when....I just saw her yesterday!" [2:33] Lily Lowtide whimpers as both the pain from her fingers and the pain of the situation start to get to her. She starts to biolently shake her head, which was almost enough movement to send her flying over into the canal because she was so weak. Her breathing becomes heavier as she starts to cry harder, even though she thought she wouldn't be able to cry one more tear. She hadn't known much but what she got from ti was "To..day." She takes in a few deep breaths, trying to calm herself enought to talk. "Suicide." [2:37] Alayni Axelrad in contrast to Lily's deep breaths had stopped breathing. The world around her suddenly grew dark and her vision swirled several times before she spoke again, still frozen in the same expression, though tears now poured from her sapphire eyes and ran over her cheeks, dripping to the pavement below. "But....but why?! Was it the drugs? Did the drugs make her do it?!" she noticed Lily almost tip headfirst into the canal and quickly moved to her side to steady her, and would try and link one hand around her waist so she didn't fall. [2:42] Lily Lowtide brings her bloody hands up to cover her face, the sunglasses not being enough coverage. She starts to rock back and forth in Alayni's embrace, half wanting to fall into the canal. She bites down on her lip so she doesn't start to cry too hard, not wanting to let out all of her emotions at once. It was already big enough that she was crying infront of somebody, which she never did. Through her whimpers she tries to answer Alayni's questions. "I.. don't know. Some.. girl came... and told me. She.. just said that.. Fluffy had.. things bothering her that... not even her friends knew." She tightens her grip on her face, digging her bloody finger tips into her forehead, though not enough to break skin or anything. "She was.. just here.." she mumbles, still trying to grasp the whole thing. [2:46] Alayni Axelrad 's own tears continued to pour down her face. She had known something was wrong with Fluffy, knew it the moment she started doing heavy drugs. But she never knew what those things were, or that Fluffy had thoughts of killing herself. Her behaviour had become increasingly destructive and she hadnt known how to fix it, because Fluffy was the proud sort and wouldnt get help when she had told her to. She pulled Lily closer and wpuld bring her own hand up to hers, bringing it down to look at it, "Why are yer hands all bloody Lily? Are ye hurt? Do ye want to wash this off and get something to eat?" Alayni really didn't know what else to say about Fluffy, though the tears washed down her face in torrents and she could not stop them, the scent of blood was strong fro
10 Things I Hate
10 Things I Hate
I really try to not use the H word as it is so hash and negative. I prefer strongly dislike instead. However, in keeping with the theme this month, here are the 10 THINGS I HATE: 1) People who come to the gym with a fresh applications of cologne. I am talking eye stinging, throat closing, visible vapor trails of sickening fragrance as they walk by. WTF? If you think you stink that bad try some deodorant, but leave the cologne for the club (and tell me which one you are going to so I can go somewhere else) 2) When the whites of my finger nails start to show and they make that clicking noise when they strike things. Yes I am aware that this is not normal and you may be right about me needing professional help. I gotta be honest here. I more then strongly dislike this… I hate it! 3) People that are mean to children and animals. I can’t imagine anyone being a bigger pussy then being mean to children and animals. No child deserves that (yes including the ones that are really annoying) Even animals deserve to live unmolested and in peace. 4) People who drive too slow! Get the hell over if you don’t want to do the speed limit or better yet take the bus. 5) Flossing! I hate it but I do it… ok not everyday like I should… ok not really often enough... ok, ok, ok… infrequently! It is just so disgusting! I brush twice as often and get my teeth cleaned every 4 months to make up for it. I could never be a dental hygienist. Ewww! 6) People who don’t seal the tortilla package back up! Nothing is as frustrating as when you go for those tortillas that you just opened yesterday only to find the edges of them by the top of the package are all dried up because someone didn’t close it tight. I know this is a minor issue compared to current world events, but hey! This is my list and it is important to ME! 7) Skipping CD’s! Damn I hate that! If you are with me on this one scream HELL YEAH! 8) Putting air in my tires. It is such a pain in the ass. Here in SoCal you have to pay fifty cents at most gas stations and I never have quarters and besides I am basically lazy. I could take it to the place where I bought the tires and they would do it for me but even I am not that lazy! I just like to bitch about it. 9) When we get the carpets cleaned and my wife goes on this crusade for everyone to wear socks because the carpet cleaning guy said it is better for the carpet because of the oils on our feet (and you thought that picture of my crazy ass socks was random didn’t you:) after awhile I wear her down and she tires of reminding me about the socks and she gives up until the next time. 10) (edited 10/1/09 as I hate this even more!) People who say No Problem! after you say thank you to them. What the hell is that about? I mean, I never thought that being polite and thanking someone WAS a problem! I really, Really, REALLY hate this! Am I the only one? See how hostile I get when I am hating? I am really a much nice person then this. What? Are you calling me a liar? Hahaha! This was fun and kinda therapeutic!

The Pain Chronicles: Cures, Myths, Mysteries, Prayers, Diaries, Brain Scans, Healing, and the Science of Suffering
In The Pain Chronicles, Melanie Thernstrom traces conceptions of pain throughout the ages—from ancient Babylonian pain-banishing spells to modern brain imaging—to reveal the elusive, mysterious nature of pain itself. Interweaving first-person reflections on her own battle with chronic pain, incisive reportage from leading pain clinics and medical research, and insights from a wide range of disciplines, Thernstrom shows that when dealing with pain we are neither as advanced as we imagine nor as helpless as we may fear.
