Queen - Greatest Video Hits 1

You haven't heard Queen's greatest hits until you've experienced them in surround sound on Greatest Video Hits 1. Disc 1 includes 16 of Queen's most popular singles, restored and remixed in 5.1-channel Dolby Digital and DTS, and the results are nothing less than spectacular. Reformatted for widescreen TVs, Queen's early videos are visually basic (typically combining lip-synched band footage with concert performance clips), but they effectively chronicle the group's musical and stylistic evolution, and "Bicycle Race" includes previously unseen footage of an all-nude female bicycle race! (Optional commentary is provided for all videos by guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor, with archival quotes from the late Freddie Mercury and bassist John Deacon.)
Disc 2, while not remixed, features six excellent videos (including the previously unseen "Liar"), and a hidden, alternate-edit video of "Bohemian Rhapsody" originally seen on Britain's Top of the Pops (and accessible by entering "Title 10, Chapter 1" on your DVD remote). "Bohemian Rhapsody" is the obvious highlight of both discs, and its history (both audio and video) is thoroughly explored, including May's fascinating deconstruction of the song's original studio recording tracks. Mandatory viewing for Queen fans, Video Hits 1 will leave you begging for Video Hits 2. --Jeff Shannon

Things were not going as planned... (036|365)
First, "Indiana Jones from Temple of Doom" twisted his ankle during the dance rehersal, now "Kurt Russell from Backdraft" was being torn apart by lions... What next? This music video was turning out to be more hassle than it was worth. The other three New Village People valiantly practiced their dance moves as they watched the bloody scene unfold... "Tommy Lee Jones from No Country For Old Men" took the lead, and "Jeff Bridges from Starman" & "Burt Reynolds from Deliverance" were in sync right to the gruesome end. Man, it sure was going to be a big job to replace Steve and teach the new guy all the moves. I wonder who opened the gate to the Lion enclosure in the first place??

The game Is fantastic, so many memories every time I look at this cover and when I hear this great music, they just flood back. The music was really good In this game, really worth listening to, this music I added to the video Is my favourite, It's the music from the test mission, the beautiful piano playing, and the way It just starts with the piano, I love It. A great piece of work from the people that worked on creating this first class game, well done to them. I hope this video of this great game brings back some memories for you too. :)

Guns N' Roses - Welcome to the Videos (Keep Case)

Here's a baker's dozen of Guns N' Roses' most explosive and memorable music videos from 1987 to 1993, and what a lesson they provide in the early evolution of visual style on MTV. Looking back, it seems Guns N' Roses embraced almost every "type" of music-video setting: "Welcome to the Jungle," for instance, finds rapid images of the band's stage performance interspersed with a semi-narrative featuring Axle Rose as a newcomer to the big bad city. "Paradise City" is set against an arena sound check, while "Sweet Child O' Mine" is structured around the now-threadbare idea of a video documentary about a video production. A couple of obsessive themes emerge from this anthology, the starkest involving love and watery deaths ("Don't Cry" and "November Rain"). Most interesting is the opiate-like distortions of "The Garden" and the surreal "Since I Don't Have You," starring Gary Oldman as a grinning devil. --Tom Keogh
