Educational Philosophy

An educators management plan is a reflection of their educational philosophy.
Take an Inventory to learn about your beliefs about teaching and learning.

Understanding your philosophy can inform your classroom management plan.
It is important that your pedagogical actions match your beliefs about teaching and learning.

Take an Educational Philosophy Inventory and identify your philosophy:
  • Essentialism
  • Behaviorism
  • Progressivism
  • Existentialism
  • Perennialism
  • Reconstructivism
Once you identify one or more of the philosophies that reflect your beliefs about teaching and learning, visit the Circle of Courage Philosophy from the Reclaiming Youth International Website. See how your above philosophy choices can integrate with the four central values of the Circle of Courage: belonging, mastering, independence and generosity. Think about how you can help each of your students develop these four different values in your classroom. Describe the instructional strategies and the student activities that would encourage each of these value domains on the Circle of Courage Graphic Organizer

See the Classroom Management Plan Instructions below for the template and the rubric.
