Intervention

The Intervention Approach (red portion of the pyramid) includes how educators
intervene to help students engage and learn.

The Intervention or Corrective Approach describes what educators do when students are not meeting expectations

Approximately 5% of a teachers attention is on corrective strategies.

The interventions include actions to help students correct their behavior, consequences (time outs, referrals, notify parents, behavior plans...), consistency strategies, as well as how educators keep your composure and not let students push your buttons.

  1. What will you do if students are not engaged?
  2. What strategies will you employ if rules are not followed?
  3. How will you help students learn self-control?
  4. How will you individualize your intervention based on the students needs?
When students with special education needs struggle to be engaged and learn, educators may use 10 questions to help diagnose situations and strategies that can support all learners.
