Classical Ministry CommitteeThe purpose of the Classical Ministries Committee is to enable the classis to enable the local church and collaborative classical ministries in these five ministry areas - worship, outreach, service, fellowship and discipleship. It is organized to ensure that it has a balanced overview of and interaction with the ministries of the churches. The strategy of each team is to inspire, support, equip and encourage, and provide accountability. The following chart gives the scriptural rationale for these five ministry areas.
Worship and PrayerWORSHIP celebrates God’s presence. The work of the prayer coordinator falls in this area. ServiceSERVICE demonstrates God’s love to our neighbours through faithful counsel and programs of assistance. Ministry networking and resourcing areas include Diaconal Ministries Canada, Faith & Hope Mental Health Ministry, Safe Church Ministries, Disabilities Concerns, Chaplaincy, Service Link, CRWRC, etc. OutreachOUTREACH stimulates witness and loves justice. Ministry networking and resourcing areas include Geneva Fellowship Campus Ministry - Queens University, Kingston; Seafarer's Ministry, Montreal; Home Missions; World Missions; Back to God Ministries International; etc. FELLOWSHIP incorporates God’s family and promotes hospitality, encouragement, and pastoral care. Ministry networking and resourcing areas include the pastor/spouse retreat, Pastor-Church Relations and the marriage and family newlstter. Discipleship
DISCIPLESHIP provides education and equipping. Ministry networking and resourcing include the areas of youth ministries, All Ontario Youth Convention, Quinte Ministerial Leadership (Student Fund), Leadership Development Network, Faith Alive Christian Resources, Redeemer University College, Calvin College, and Calvin Seminary. Classis PersonnelEach ministry area shall be headed up by a 1-2 person team whose sole mandate is to provide ministry networking (inspire, support, equip, encourage and provide accountability) for and between member churches and for the shared ministries in our region. These team leaders report to the Classis Quinte Classical Ministry Committee three times per year. These team leaders are passionate for their ministry area, desire to serve the member churches in classis Quinte, have the endorsement of their church council, possess administrative and leadership skills. Appointments require ratification by Classis. Membership is for a three-year term (renewable after one term) with the officers appointed annually.
In addition, there are committees within each ministry area. See classis ministry teams for a complete listing.
