About me!
This, I think, is enough of a CV for you to be sure that you will be working with someone with an understanding of how learning takes place and who has the skills to help you make progress in your chosen instrument.

Disclosure Scotland
I have full disclosure by the authorities, and am cleared to work with vulnerable groups and persons. I will allow all learners to see this disclosure document during the first lesson. (* Please note that my disclosure form is out of date and I haven't had the opportunity to renew it. I will do so when I remember or it becomes necessary).

I am something of a musical all-rounder with lots of experience touring and performing on the club circuit in Europe and I enjoy music from all kinds of scenes. I am skilled in wide range of popular and contemporary styles on the guitar and mandolin and can tutor in other instruments including, the bouzouki, tenor banjo, mandola, hammer dulcimer, electric guitar and electronic keyboard. I have experience in digital recording of real, sampled and electronic instruments. I have written, arranged and produced many multi-part pieces of music (for fiddles, accordion, whistles, cellos, chordal instruments, bass and drums) both in 'live' and studio settings.

Music in Community Education
I have a long history as music tutor in community education, teaching mixed instrument groups and individuals, including directing a 35 piece Scottish music ensemble. My understanding of community education approaches to literacies and the arts have had a major effect on my approach to teaching music. This includes placing the learner at the centre of the learning experience. I have produced effective learning materials for schools, local authorities and the BBC. The BBC commissions were sold internationally, especially in Commonwealth countries.

Adult Literacy
I have many years experience as a volunteer literacy tutor and I continue to be active as a volunteer. Over the years as a volunteer I have produced a large number of learning resources, including recently a unit of work for the Glasgow voluntary sector.

I am a graduate of the University of Glasgow and Moray House Edinburgh (MA/PGCE).
