The workshops can cover:
  • ornamentation (adding more detail to tunes),
  • opportunities to play using 'parts'  (for example, harmonies, counterpoint, etc)
  • the chance to try some not so obvious tunes from Scotland (from older collections)
  • making an effective ensemble sound (probably the most important aim of the workshop
  • four hours of great music
Resources Included
  • notation supplied in advance of the workshop (posted online.  Some materials will be issued on the day of the workshop)
  • audio practice files (good quality recordings of the material giving you a chance to prepare in advance.  Also yours to keep after the workshop).

Intermediate to Advanced Levels
These workshops are designed for intermediate to advanced players, but you don't have to have had any experience playing traditional music.  You should, however, be able to read and play from notation - or be very good at learning by ear.
