Head Swim Team Coach 

Work under the direction of the Parent Swim Team Board, Pool Manager and the Executive Director of the District.  Responsible for the operation of the swim team including organizing, completing assigned tasks, communicating with parents, and working with swimmers.  Will guide assistant coaches in all areas.


1.    Must be at least 18 years of age.

2.    Must be CPR Certified and pass Concussion training online.

3.    Minimum two years coaching experience desired.


Required Knowledge:

1.    Competitive Swimming.

2.    Instruction of amateur swimmers.


Duties and Responsibilities:

1.    Supervise the swimmers during practices, meets and any other swim periods:

2.    Coach and teach proper stroke techniques.

3.    Supervise and handle all swim meet preparation, including equipment set-up.

4.    Lead and supervise daily practices.

5.    Attend and work with swimmers to create a line up for all the regular season, league and state swim meets.

6.    Assist with preparation, operation and clean-up of swim meets.

7.    Work with Parent Swim Team Board to hire assistant coaches.

8.    Assist assistant coaches with practice structure, time management, coaching aspects, record keeping and award distribution of swimmers.

9.    Serve as the primary communicator to the Swim Team Board, Swimmers,  

 Parents, Assistant Coaches and District Management.

10.  Attend and participate in Swim Team Board meetings.

11.  Record swimmer’s meet results.

12.  Maintain a clean, safe and organized swim team environment.

13.  Order and distribute swim team awards for the end of season banquet.

14.  Oversee Stroke & Turn winter program.

15.  Supervise, Teach and coach Stroke & Turn Coaches on how to work with


Requirements:  A background in competitive swimming is required with 2 years of previous age group coaching experience desired

Salary:  Pay is dependent on qualifications and experience.

Columbine Knolls Recreation District is proud to sponsor and support the Blue Dolphins Swim Team!       

The Columbine Knolls Swim Team participates in the Foothills Summer League.  
Note:  Practice will be held in the evening hours, until the Jefferson County School year ends.  

Columbine Knolls Swim Team season begins in May and ends the last weekend in July.
Practice times are divided by age group.

Afternoon practice schedule from 

 * May 20th - May 24th

Morning practice schedule from

May 27th - July 26th

 5 yrs - 8 yrs 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. 8:00 - 8:55 a.m.
 9 yrs - 12 yrs 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.7:00 - 8:10 a.m
 13 yrs and up 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. 6:00 - 7:15 a.m

  *  Team will practice in the evening until school ends.  No practice on Memorial Day.

Team participation requirements:

By the first meet, 5 - 8 year old participants must be able to swim (1) length of the pool (25 meters) without stopping. 9 year olds and up must be able to swim (2) lengths of the pool without stopping.

Parents are required to participate in various duties for swim meets.  The Swim Team Board will be available to explain all the duties needed to host the excellent swim meets, for which CKST is famous!

Registration Night to be announced will be from 4:30 pm through 6:30 pm. Swimmers can try on swim suits this night as well.

Swim Team Fees: $ 170.00 All Swimmers (Includes T-Shirt, Meet Fees, etc.) - *A sliding fee scale is used for more than one member in the same family: 2nd swimmer = $150, 3rd swimmer = $80: 4th swimmer or more = is  a maximum fee of $400 per family.
