The teasel weed is an aggressive wild plant, introduced into America from Europe possibly as early as the 1700s. It is very common in northern and central Virginia. Traditionally, dried teasel, which is very spiky, as a comb to clean and raise the nap on fabrics, especially wool, so that it can be trimmed. It has been largely replaced for this purpose by metal cards, though it is occasionally still used for very expensive soft fabrics such as cashmere. [source: Wikipedia, of course] There are some elaborate claims for the medicinal value of teasel weed drifting around on the Internet, including claims that it helps fybromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and Lyme Disease.
In the morning, I am running to the post office...my face is bare on another note... I just took all our winter coats and cashmeres to the dry cleaner for storage...and now I have no warm clothes to wear...!!! It's now the end of March...but it has been SNOWING and HAILING for 3 days!!! T.T soooo cooold outside...wth!! good thing I just bought this last 2 weeks on winter sale haha thank goodness! Also, I wear faux fur only now. I've boycotted real fur ever since I found out how terrible the whole business of fur trade is...will take some photos to show my boycott of fur soon! as you can see, faux fur is just as warm and beautiful as real fur!
