The Band

CitySide started entertaining in 2007 when band leader and singer, Kekoa Tsukiyama was 20 years old. The band started playing gigs and gained popularity with weekly performances for over a year at Tsukiji Fish Market & Restaurant in Ala Moana SC. They were discovered there by a music producer who offered to produce their first album.
In December of 2008, selections from their debut CD, Welcome to the CitySide, hit the airwaves and by January 2009 the band had two hits on local radio stations, one original, Come on Pretty Baby and a cover of the Temptations, Lady Soul.
The success of their music landed CitySide a spot at the 2009 Jammin’ Hawaiians Concert and a spot at the 2009 KCCN FM100 Birthday Bash. They also filmed an episode of Hot Hawaiian Nights which aired on K5 TV in the summer of 2009 and the CD was nominated for the 2010 Hawaii Music Awards in the Contemporary Island music category.
The band plays for private parties, public events, and at various nightclubs and recently finished the recording of their second album which they plan to release in January 2013.
The style of the band is a mix of island contemporary with, reggae, R&B, oldies, greatest hits and hip-hop and Kekoa also performs as a solo artist, duo or trio.
