The Courts have rendered a decision on the petition for writ of mandate against the TC Apts project:

"The petition for writ of mandamus is granted. Judgement is to be entered in favor of petitioner and against respondent. A peremptory writ of mandamus shall issue from the Court directing the respondent, County of El Dorado; El Dorado County Board of Supervisors to vacate and set aside its Dec. 2, 2014 decision adopting the mitigated negative declaration."

For those opposing the project, that's a 'win'; full document here.

BOS approval 12/15/15 of density increasing changes to the General Plan and Zoning Ordinance shows continued disregard of public input.

Town Center was the first project of many coming, to amend the General Plan for increased high density residential development.

If you moved to El Dorado County to get away from Bay Area or Orange County congestion, or if you just love the rural nature of our county, you need to get educated on the ongoing effort to 'urbanize' EDC, and what you can do about it.  More info at www.SaveOurCounty,net

Our mission when launching this site was twofold:

1. Overturn the 12/2/14 approval of high density apartments in
El Dorado Hills Town Center, and

2. Seek redesign of the project to minimize impacts on residents, and maintain community support of development in Town Center.

News Update

  • Planning Commission action Wed., 9/2/15
On Wed. Sept 2nd, the Planning Commission voted 4-1 to forward the General Plan & Zoning Ordinance update to the Board of Supervisors with a recommendation for approval.  Four commissioners voted for approval, and did not support the Chair's position that the FEIR does not adequately analyze the impacts - they were not interested in hearing from the public to understand why there is a problem.

There's a pattern here, and the TC Apartments were just the beginning. Tahoe communities/residents opposing the higher development intensity of the Meyers' Plan (... yep, our County stretches far..) just received similar treatment by the EDC Supervisors, who are moving forward with an EIR based on policies residents do not support.

Community Regions like EDH will be hit hard, but the outlying areas will be impacted too. Learn about it and attend - the Board hearings are tentatively scheduled for the week of Oct. 5th.

COURT BRIEF FILED IN CASE AGAINST EL DORADO COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS FOR ABUSE OF DISCRETIONARY POWER

    June 30, 2015, Placerville, CA

The Opening Brief has been filed in the matter of Citizens for Sensible Development in El Dorado Hills v County of El Dorado.  The basis of the litigation can be seen in a copy of the Brief available here.

The abuse of discretion by the Board motivating this legal action is described in Attorney Tom Infusino's December 1, 2014 letter:

"Given the unusual decision of the Board of Supervisors on November 4 to defy the recommendations of their advisory bodies, and to direct the Planning Department to prepare for project approval, it has become necessary to explain why this project approval is not only ill advised, but also unlawful at this time."

It is up to citizens to take action and hold officials accountable when they abuse their discretionary power and ignore the law. Citizens for Sensible Development in El Dorado Hills and Save Our County are working together to see that public concerns about the project and its impact on the community are addressed and that environmental law is followed.

Please visit www.Citizens4SensibleDevelopment.org or www.SaveOurCounty.net to find out how you can join the effort to hold the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors accountable for abusing their discretionary power.

  • Two Supervisors vote to save our money in a time of debt

Supervisors Mikulaco and Frentz vote against the expenditure of 50 K more money to changes to the General Plan. Changes that are not required by law and that will further add to the county debt of 20M. Thank you supervisors, Mikulaco and Frentz.
