  • Funeral of Father of Col. John R Fairlamb, 69 Below is notice of the funeral of the father of Col. John R. Fairlamb, ’69, who was an active member of CCGW before he was transferred to Huntsville in 2006.  The senior Col.   • 30 March 2016 - Corps Day Muster The CCGW Distinguished Speaker for this year's Corps Day Muster is CAPT (Ret) Geno Paluso, Current Commandant of Cadets at The Citadel.  The event will be hosted at the Springfield Country Club on 30 Mar 2016, 7 PM. In 1997 the Board of Directors of The Citadel Alumni Association adopted a resolution calling for a worldwide event to commemorate the establishment of The Citadel and to remember alumni of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets, who have passed away during the preceding year.   • Citadel Minority Alumni Association Dear Citadel Minority Alumni:Over the last two years, we’ve had the pleasure of attending minority alumni events during the week of Homecoming with the hope of forming a minority alumni group that is formally recognized by The Citadel. As a result of the enthusiasm expressed by those attending these events, a small group of minority alumni involved in organizing the Homecoming events formed the Citadel Minority Alumni Association Steering Committee which consists of other interested minority alumni along with senior members of The Citadel Foundation (TCF) and the Director of the Citadel Alumni Association (CAA) with the support of the Board of Visitors and Lt Gen Rosa.   • CCGW ELECTED TO ARLAND WILLIAMS SOCIETY Our club has been inducted into the Arland Williams Society, the first group ever so honored. Founded in 2000 it is named in memory of Arland D. Williams '57 who was a passenger on Air Florida flight 90 which crashed into the Potomac River on January 13, 1982; one of only 6 people to survive the crash he repeatedly passed the lifeline from a Park Police helicopter to other survivors so they could be rescued first, by the time his turn came to be rescued he had been overcome by hypothermia and drowned. He was posthumously awarded the Coast Guard Gold Lifesaving Medal by President Reagan and the northbound span of the 14th Street Bridge is named in his memory ...

  • Ranger Challenge Competition From Col. Laurence Hutto '87, PMS, The Citadel (Feb 20, 2012) -This past weekend we sent two teams from the Army Department to compete against the other Senior and Junior Military Colleges at Ft Knox, Kentucky.  The two teams finished in 1st and 4th place.  Our first place team will now compete at the Sandhurst Challenge that is held each year at West point from 20-21 April 2012.  All of the United States Service Academies, 8 qualifying University ROTC teams, the United States Military Academy Preparatory School team, and international teams from Britain's Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS), Canada’s Royal Military College (RMC), Afghanistan's National Military Academy, the Chinese Military Academy, and the Chilean Military ...

  • “Big Red” Comes Home “Big Red” completed its 150-year and 1,203-mile journey home to The Citadel today. The Civil War-era red palmetto flag – believed to be the one that flew over Morris Island when Citadel cadets fired upon the supply ship The Star of the West – arrived on campus Friday morning aboard a climate-controlled 18-wheeler.
