Art Muses

The Art Muses program is aligned with National and California State Academic Standards. It is an outstanding resource for introducing children to the visual arts and art appreciation. Throughout the school year our students are introduced to six exciting artists, their style and time period in art history. These artists serve as a “muse” to inspire our students, who then have the opportunity to create a masterpiece of their own.

The Art Muses was founded in 2006, by Circle View’s Visual Arts director, Tracie Keatinge, with the indispensable support of Circle View teachers Bonnie D’Amato, Heather Panzella, Anne Brasie, and Catherine Alberts. It is 100% sustained by the Circle View PTO and is run by parent volunteers recruited from Circle View's campus community. These volunteers or “docents” prepare activity materials and/or assist during the classroom lesson/activity. An art background is not required; docents need only have an interest in working with students and facilitating a positive art experience. If you are interested in being part of this worthwhile program, contact Kathleen Karnowski or your child's teacher.
