I am a Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics, University of Bergamo (Italy), CEPR Research Fellow, CESifo Research Affiliate, and CAGE Research Associate. I am also Coordinator of the PhD in Economics at the University of Bergamo.
My research interests are in the fields of Economic History, Growth and Development, Public Economics, and Political Economy. In particular, I study the relationship between education and fertility, the role of human capital in innovation and economic growth, the political and socio-economic factors that affect the provision of public education.
My research has been published in outlets such as the Review of Economic Studies, Economic Journal, Journal of Economic Growth, Journal of Development Economics, Demography, and Explorations in Economic History. I hold a PhD in Economics from the University of Munich. I held visiting positions at the Brown University, University of Munich, University of Mannheim, and University of Bayreuth.
