Exploring Christianity

posted 8 May 2018, 06:25 by service peterborough

Various churches in Peterborough are always holding Alpha session. What's that? It's an opportunity within a social-event, often with a meal, to ask questions, for example: what is all the fuss about? What is Christianity?  Why Jesus Christ?  Isn't he the guy they talk about at Christmas or Easter?
Click on the map and find a church near you and ask them when their next Alpha takes place.

Pentecost Sunday

Churches in Peterborough celebrate Pentecost

Pentecost - a little mentioned date in the Christian calendar, but none-the-less worth learning about.

Pentecost was 50 days after the Passover celebration.  (What's Passover?  Originally - 3000 years ago - a celebration of life; the angel of death avoided, passed over, houses that had the Lamb of God's blood on the door posts)
At Pentecost, Christians celebrate the death and rising to life again of Jesus Christ, the man who, replaced the baby sheep of Passover, He died to save all peoples everywhere; He returned to heaven to be with God and sent His Holy Spirit, the guide and comforter and witness to Jesus Christ and God the Father.

At Pentecost, Christians mark the arrival and availability of the Holy Spirit for all people everywhere.

Find a church near you this Pentecost to learn more.
