I am a broadly trained environmental scientist with strong interests in the plant-ecosystem-atmosphere interactions in natural and managed ecosystems. My research focuses on the biophysical regulation of ecosystem-atmosphere carbon, water, energy, and momentum exchanges and their responses to climate change, management, and disturbance. Over the years, I conducted studies using field measurements (e.g., eddy covariance, chamber, sap flow, biometric), remote sensing, and statistical modeling across a variety of ecosystems, e.g., forests, croplands, wetlands, and lakes. Despite the wide spectrum of studied systems, my research goal is always to understand and build the mechanistic linkages between ecosystem characteristics (i.e., physiological, phenological, structural traits) and ecosystem functions and processes (i.e., flux, storage).
