About Me

My name is Chris Sikich. I will be entering my sixth year as a high school teacher in 2011-2012. It will be my fifth year at Sun Valley High School in Aston, Pennsylvania.

I teach biology (10th grade) and general science (9th grade). In addition, I also teach homebound biology and general science. I am the head coach of Science Olympiad and one of the Sea Perch Robotics' coaches at Sun Valley as well. In addition, I teach in a Saturday program at Widener University for Chester middle schoolers called Project Forward Leap. I participated in the RET Nano program last summer (2010) as well. The wesbite associated with that experience is here: https://sites.google.com/site/chsikichret2010/.

I was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Hammond, Indiana. I received my Bachelor's Degree from Indiana University of Bloomington, Indiana in 2004 with majors in biology (with honors), English, and Film Studies. In addition, I received a separate undergrad degree in education (with honors) from Indiana University in 2001. I was awarded my Masters in Science of Education from Drexel University in 2007.

Passions beyond teaching include cicadas, cinema, the band R.E.M. (as well as many other bands, especially in live-concert form), amateur photography of nature and rock concerts, and travel.

(That is me on the far left, hard at work on a nanoscale dilution.)
