        Elks National Foundation’s 2009 Most Valuable Student Contest

·          500 scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $15,000 per year are available

·          Must be a high school senior

·          Must be a citizen of the United States

·          Must pursue a four-year degree on a full-time basis at an accredited United States college or university

·          Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need

·          On-line application is available at www.elks.org

·          Application must be submitted to the Elks Lodge either (1) in person at 2250 Snow Road, Parma, Ohio, 44129 or (2) by mail at P O Box 29003, Parma, Ohio, 44129 by midnight on November 2, 2009

                                                                                                                                                                       Mensa Education & Research Foundation Scholarship Essay Contest

·          Multiple awards between $300 and $2,000

·          Must be a resident of a participating American Mensa local group

·          Must enroll in an accredited U. S. institution for the 2010-2011 academic year

·          Must write an essay of no more than 550 words that describes the applicant’s career, vocational, or academic goals

·          Application is available at www.mensafoundation.org/scholarships

·          Application must be postmarked by January 15, 2010

 

         National Co-op Scholarship Program

·          170 - $6,000 merit co-op scholarships (many are renewable for three years)

·          Must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.5

·          Minority and female students as well as students interested in Science-Math-Engineering Technology are encouraged to apply

·          Must attend one of the following eight (8) colleges/universities:  Drexel University, Johnson & Wales University, Kettering University, Pace University, Rochester Institute of Technology, University of Cincinnati, University of Toledo, or Wentworth Institute of Technology

·          Must type a one-page essay (500 words or less) describing why you have chosen to pursue a college cooperative education

·          Application is available at www.www.co-op.edu

·          Application must be postmarked by February 15, 2010

 

         Cavaliers & Majestic Steel USA Scholarship Program

·          Six - $2,000 scholarships

·          Must be a high school senior

·          Must intend to pursue a career in manufacturing

·          Must enroll in college for the 2010-2011 school year

·          Must plan to attend Cuyahoga Community College, Lakeland Community College, or Lorain Community College

·          Must complete the FAFSA

·          Application is available in the guidance office

·          Application must be postmarked by March 5, 2010

·          Recipients will be announced at the Cavaliers game at Quicken Loans Arena on April 9, 2010

 

         Marion Stroud Memorial Scholarship

·          Two - $500 scholarships

·          Must be a high school senior

·          Must be accepted into an accredited training program in a field providing services to individuals with MRDD (Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities) such as nursing, special education, or physical therapy

·          Must demonstrate involvement in or provide services to individuals with developmental disabilities through activities such as Special Olympics, volunteering, job shadowing, WINGS program, etc.

·          Application is available at www.mcbmrdd.org

·          Application is due at the Medina County MRDD Administration Office no later than March 25, 2010
