Converted from (we think) a former storehouse. The original building has a large open area downstairs - kitchen, dining table, lounge - and two bedrooms upstairs, one facing north, the other south. The annex added to this end contains a large and well-furnished bathroom area. At the other end is a conservatory, which was always airy and light. The garden had three separate areas with tables and seats: the stone seats on the left here, a marble-topped table and plastic chairs behind the bush, and a larger table and chairs underneath the large tree outside the conservatory. The marble table was where we usually sat for breakfast, afternoon tea, and most meals that we ate here. On the far right, you can see one of the two mill-tower remnants. It was a lovely place. Highly recommended. origfilename:20070910_003-z-stitch
Under the Table
Under the Table
We have a (relatively, it's been in photos already as have the chairs) new kitchen/dining table to replace the set that followed us from Faribault, MN, to Iowa City, IA, to Davenport, IA, back up to Minnesota. Kevin could say for sure, but I know that table was at least fourteen years old and had definitely seen better days. We now have a beautiful split-log hickory table with lots of "character" (read flaws, but absolutely charming nonetheless). . . it provides a nifty central feline "walkway" from one end to the other. Kiwi and Cumin are the two who use the "walkway" on a regular basis. [SOOC, f/1.4, ISO 400, shutter speed 1/200, +1 EV]
