IT & Computing

I first took an interest in computer repairs and IT in 1999 when the family computer stopped booting.

From here I went on to build my first machine in 2002 and joined Tandem Software Group in 2003 performing computer repairs and builds, spyware removal and system diagnosis

In 2006 I went to Loughborough University to complete a BSc (Hons) in Computing and Management, covering modules which include:

  • Operating systems, Networks and the Internet
  • Programming for the WWW
  • Team projects (using PHP and
  • Organisational behaviour

In 2008 I joined the Honda Racing F1 Team, and later Brawn GP Formula One Team as member of the Trackside IT team. Here I gained exposure to:

  • VMWare ESX Virtual infrastructures
  • Cisco Catalyst switches and routers
  • Windows Server 2003 and Active Directory
  • limited exposure to WAN and SAN environments

I was also responsible for:

  • Ensuring the correct data went to each track event
  • Ensuring the race team and test team equipment was fully functioning
  • Diagnosing and repairing the trackside Intel servers
  • Implementing all manner of trackside hardware from user laptops to thin clients
