Music

Music is an important part of our life here at Christ Church - from the Parish Eucharist with full choir to an all age celebration with the instrumental group. And every day at Morning and Evening Prayer simple chant is used to sing the canticles, and we have a regular cycle of concerts and recitals.

The Choir sings each Sunday at the 10 am Parish Eucharist, except on the first Sunday of each month and in August. Rehearsals take place every Thursday in term time at 6.30 pm. It has been great to have a recent influx of young probationers joining the choir and new singers are always welcome. Please simply come along to a practice or contact Christine Alp via the Parish Office (01423 530750).

The Music Group plays at the 10 am All Age Parish Eucharist on the first Sunday of each month. Music is available at least a week in advance (including transpositions for Bb instruments), and the band normally meets at 9 am on the morning of the service to run through the music. If you would like to find out more, please simply come along to a practice or contact Christine Alp via the Parish Office (01423 530750).

Rutter's Requiem

On Sunday 9th April the performance will be at

Christ Church, and a week later

on Saturday 15th April at

St. John's Church, Knaresborough.

Both performances will be at 6 pm.  Rutter’s famous work should be accessible to many amateur singers, and we would be pleased to hear from any members of the congregation who would like to join us

for these occasions.  Please contact Christine Alp at christine.alp@ntlworld.com for further details.

At Christ Church we will be rehearsing the Requiem on

Thursday evenings towards the end of our weekly choir

practice (7.00 - 7 45 pm). We look forward to you joining us.
