WHAT TO EXPECT?
WHAT TO EXPECT?
Where do we meet?
We currently meet on the campus of what was formerly First Haitian Church pf Grace (formerly Derita Baptist Church). We currently utilize their educational facility for our worship service. This campus has become sort of a "crowdsourcing" campus of three ministries First Haitian (services in French), Arca de Salvacion (services in Spanish), and Christ Assembly (services in English).
Our Ministry?
We are a small church. Small churches are defined by those who have (40-200) worshippers on average attending on Sundays. We are closer to 40 worshippers so there is plenty of room for you. The vast majority of churches in the U.S. fall into this category. We don't view being a small church as a problem, virtue, or excuse. It is simply what we are at this point, and we seek to serve God with all the resources that we have. We believe it takes both small and large churches to do God's work and each has its advantages. Small churches are the still the way most people choose to worship, learn, and minister.
How we "do" church?
We believe in keeping church simple. We are congregation that does 3 things
Gather to connect- Worship together manly on Sundays @ 10:30 am and occasionally at other times when we fellowship with other churches.
Grow connected- We meet weekly for Bible Study on Tuesdays via Zoom. In addition, we have men, women, and children focus groups that meet at a minimum every quarter. Lastly, we encourage families to aprticipate in family worship in the homes during the week. Learn more about family worship under the "Resources" link on our website.
Go connecting- We provide ministry opportunities for our entire church to participate in as we partner with other organizations and seek to make a difference in our community. These opportunities are at a minimum once every quarter but do occasionally occur more frequently.
How Long is the Worship Service?
Our worship service last for 1 hr. and 15 mins. on average. We start at 10:30 a.m and are usually wrapping up at 11:45 a.m.
What type of music is sung?
We believe that worship is something we all gather to do and not simply observe. For that reason, we have a combination of congregational singing and songs led by our Praise Team. We sing to musical tracks. We have a blended worship format. Our songs consist of both contemporary and traditional gospel music.
What is the sermon like?
Our pastor goes through great lengths to ensure that those who worship with us can see where he's getting his information from. For that reason, we encourage worshippers to keep their Bibles open during the sermon, as our pastor frequently refers back to the Bible passage that is being spoken from. Usually, he speaks from one main passage and tries to speak about one main theme.
Will I have to speak in front of the congregation?
Absolutely not. We understand public speaking is still a large fear for most people and do not force visitors to say anything. You will be welcomed when you enter the building. You will have a choice of where you feel comfortable to sit. We encourage the person who invited you to worship will sit with you so that you have at least one familiar face.
What about giving in the offering?
We do not ask guests to give in the offering. There are times that guests want to give, but know we do not expect guests to give. If you feel led to give, you can give by giving cash or checks made out to Christ Assembly Church in the offering basket or give digitally with your debit/credit card via Paypal or CashApp.
