Project Overview:  Have YOU ever had to stand up for what you believed in no matter what the costs?  Many of us take for granted the rights we now enjoy today.  For nearly two centuries, African Americans had to overcome immense odds to achieve equality and fairness politically, economically, and socially.  In this project, you will discover and investigate the key events and groups of the Civil Rights Movement (1954-1968) where African Americans fought to attain equality and fair treatment.  Intended for high school American History students, in this lesson you will understand how the Civil Rights movement proved that some had to 'Stand Up!' for what they believed in.

*This lesson is intended for American History high school students grades 9-12.*
