Cool Thing of the Month

  • A Source Book in Theatrical History, A.M. Nagler Ever wonder how to act according to the Greeks?  This book has it.  Photo courtesy of Julian MartinezI've got to hand it to a book that doesn't hide behind a frilly, more-marketable title than A Source Book in Theatrical History.  This book is just what it says it is.  Nagler the editor found a ton of original accounts- sometimes descriptive, sometimes opinionated texts and great illustrations- from throughout western history and gave a concise, efficient description of each artifact.  Even reading the descriptions I could tell this book would be indispensable to an IB Theatre class. A Source Book in Theatrical History covers western theatre history from Aeschylus to Stanislavski.  Costumes, set design, theater design, acting ...
