film theme ringtones - The Hitchhiker's
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy [Original Soundtrack]
The popular "Hitchhiker" books by the late Douglas Adams inspired the engagingly quirky score by Joby Talbot. In addition to the score, the CD features: "Shoo-Rah Shoo-Rah" by Betty Wright; "Here I Am (Come and Take Me)" by Al Green; "Magic Moments " from Perry Como; "So Long and Thanks for All the Fish" by Neil Hannon; "Careless Talk" and "Vote Beeblebrox" by Neil Hannon, Douglas Payne and Andy Dunlop; and "Reasons to be Miserable (His Name is Marvin)" by Stephen Fry.
Joby Talbot began writing and performing in the early '90s, working with artists such as Tom Jones, Paul McCartney, and producer Nigel Godrich. In 2000, his score to the primetime British comedy "The League of Gentlemen" won the Royal Television Society Award for Best Title Music. The British Film Institute commissioned Talbot to compose a new score for Alfred Hitchcock's silent classic "The Lodger." As a classical composer, he has worked with all the major U.K. orchestras and has been commissioned by the prestigious BBC Proms Festival.
Japan #13: Film! Film!! Film!!!
This is the view at the film and development department of a Yodobashi Camera store in Akihabara, Tokyo, Japan... and my first reaction was like " :-0" There was another Yodobashi Camera I went to in Shinjuku (West exit) and Yodobashi occupied 5 buildings there. One of them is a 6 storey dedicated camera store building with a level of digi cam, another level of 35mm SLR, one level of medium format and large format, and a level of darkroom stuff etc... Another building is a street level film development lab with 3 x these film fridges at least 10m long! I loved it so much that I almost spent my entire trip there :-P Tec: M6, 35 1.4 @ F1.4

film theme ringtones
Randy Newman's score for director Barry Levinson's 1984 adaptation of writer Bernard Malamud's baseball fable remains, like star Robert Redford's turn as the film's Roy Hobbs, somewhat mystic and decidedly larger than life. Newman's music flawlessly fuses overwrought Wagnerian grandeur with the more plaintive strains of Aaron Copland, arguably forming one of the film's most crucial narrative elements in the bargain. Perhaps because it's a score with a scale so broad and bold--the antithesis of Newman-the-songwriter's often terse, internalized musical monologues--the composer himself has since expressed reservations about the potent cues he's since dubbed "heromusik." Nonetheless, The Natural remains an impressive tribute to Newman's musical professionalism, even if his masterful craftsmanship produced something he's always seemed a bit wary of: a bona fide crowd pleaser. --Jerry McCulley
