Music Ministry
The Chancel Choir of the First United Methodist Church of Copperhill provides music for each Sunday morning worship service.  These presentations usually consist of a call to worship, an anthem, and a response to the benediction.  Special music is prepared and presented as well for such occasions as Advent, Christmas, Maundy Thursday, Palm Sunday, Easter Sunrise, Easter, Revivals, and Homecoming.  When invited, the 1st UMC choir provides music to area churches for their special occasions. The choir also participates in community activities such as Sing Offs to raise money for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.  The choir's very talented accompanist is Jerrie Sue Massengale.  The choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m.

Membership Care Committee
The Membership Care committee organizes monthly potluck fellowship meals, provides visits and church-related information to our shut-in members, furnishes a meal for the grieving families of our church members, plans “field trips” to various events for our church family, and hosts a monthly caregiver wellness support group.

For more information about the Membership Care Committee call Dale Wagner, committee chair:
(706) 492-4781.

Our committee has a 3-fold purpose, to encourage and/or provide: 1) mission education, 2)  mission experiences, and 3) mission support.  We do this in a variety of ways, which may include: raising money and developing work teams for local community needs; short-term mission trips; encouraging the congregation to support local, national, and international work done by The United Methodist Church.
Check out our  Mission Notes page for more details.

FUMC Youth Group
All rising 7th graders to age 19 are welcome!  We meet each Sunday, 5-7 pm.

We are involved in many activities as we seek to learn and serve together.  Be sure to check out our Youth Activities page.

One of our biggest annual events is Resurrection, an awesome event held every January.  You can read more about it on the
 page, too.

The youth are working with our Missions committee on various projects, such as,  Cancer Care Packages for  local cancer patients, we assist with the annual Angel Tree Project, and we assist our very own Grace Walker with her annual Jeans for Teens Project at Fannin County High School.

United Methodist Women (UMW)
We are an official organization of the church, rooted in missionary tradition, focused on ministries with women, children and youth.  We have 3 UMW
circles which usually meet monthly.

Our Theme is Rejoice in the Lord Always, based on Philippians 4:4.
For details about circles and activities, please check out our UMW page on this website.

For more information about UMW, please contact Janice Burger, UMW President, at 706-492-3051.

United Methodist Men (UMM)
Our United Methodist Men’s group is a supportive fellowship of men who seek to know Jesus Christ, to grow spiritually and seek His will daily.

We meet on the first Sunday of every month at 9:00 am for a great breakfast, fellowship, a brief meeting and devotion.  Sometimes the meeting will be postponed for a week if the first Sunday falls on a holiday weekend.  The home cooked breakfast is cooked by teams on a rotating basis, and we cook for two ladies' groups at the same time.

Funds are raised for our youth (retreats, church camp) and other organizations and groups that help children and youth in our community, such as the Christian Learning Center at Fannin County High School, the Open Arms Shelter for abused children and the Copper Basin High School library, among others.  We host a benefit lunch in March to raise these funds.  There are no dues, but a donation to help cover the cost of the breakfast food is appreciated.

All men are welcome.  Leadership by men is critical in our congregation, and is a strong example to our youth and children on leading a Christian life.

This ministry offers support-group help to persons who have experienced the loss of a loved one.  Each GriefShare meeting includes a video presentation, followed by discussion.  Participants may share feelings and experiences, if and as they wish.  Each participant receives a resource book to help them through the week between meetings.

For more information about GriefShare, or to register,  email Lonney McDonald:

This support-group ministry is for anyone who has been hurt by separation or divorce.  It meets weekly.  It includes video information, group discussions, and a workbook for one's individual journaling and study exercises.  DivorceCare meets at the church at 6 PM (after the Community Meal).
