About Us

The Chilhowee FFA Organization
The Chilhowee FFA is a local chapter of the Missouri FFA Association and the National FFA Organization.
The organization was founded in 2009 and strives to provide our membership with every opportunity for career success, personal growth, and premier leadership.

The National FFA Organization
In 1928 a group of 33 students from 18 states gathered at the Baltimore Hotel in Kansas City, Missouri and formed the Future Farmers of America, an organization for young men who were studying vocational agriculture in public secondary schools. The organization was designed to develop agricultural leadership, character, thrift, scholarship, cooperation, citizenship and patriotism. In 1965, the Future Farmers of America merged with the New Farmers of America, an organization for African American men interested in agriculture, and in 1969 women were allowed to join. The organization's name was officially changed from Future Farmers of America to the National FFA Organization in 1988 to recognize that FFA is for everyone, not just those interested in production agriculture. Today, the National FFA Organization is a premier youth leadership organization with more than 610,000 members in 7,600+ chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
