Abstract While topics of abstraction and generalization are generally not covered in elementary school, there is nothing that prevent young children from grasping these concepts. Children can relate to concrete numbers, such as 5+7. However abstract variables, such as A+B, where A and B can represent any number are confusing to kids. The goal of this seminar is to get kids to understand numbers in the abstract way, to provide them easier time relating to formulas and create a foundation for algebra in middle school. |
